SITGES

SitgesIt is one of the most attractive and elegant towns of the Catalan coast, located 35 kilometres south of Barcelona and a very popular destination.

Famous for its beautiful beaches, its cultural atmosphere, the narrow streets that invite one to walk, enjoying a pause in any of the beloved cafés, or to visit fashion and antiques shops. Its nightlife and carnival are famous.

The church, located on a promontory overlooking the sea allows us to enjoy an excellent view of the Mediterranean or to walk through the surrounding narrow paved streets. Sitges Palau Maricel

Very close are the Maricel and Cau Ferrat Museums that deserve to be visited.
In addition we recommend a visit to the Romantic Museum.

Codorniu Cavas Penedes Barcelona SpainTHE WINE REGION OF PENEDES
(Cava cellars)

The region of Penedés, internationally known for wines and Cavas is located 40 kilometres from Barcelona.
The Capital, Vilafranca del Penedés, hosts an important Wine Museum.

The majority of cellars are open to the public.
One of the most interesting visit are to Cavas Freixenet and Cavas Codorniu, a beautiful example of modernist architecture designed by Puig i Cadafalch.
The guided tour introduces the visitor into a labyrinth of tunnels where you will be able to appreciate the slow process required to elaborate Catalan Cava.

We reccommend also a visit to Bodegas Torres, wine makers since XVII century, to enjoy the wineyards and the visitors center.

CAVA AND MEDITERRANEAN Codorniu

A visit to the region of Penedes, visiting a Cava cellar in the morning and stopping for lunch in Sitges, allows to enjoy an unforgettable day among vineyards, savouring the best of Mediterranean cuisine in a typical seaside town.

MONTSERRAT

MontserratThe Monastery of Montserrat, located 60 kilometres west of Barcelona, on a spectacular mountain of strange rock formations, is the heart of Catalan religious and spiritual fervour.

Founded in the XI century, the Romanesque figure of the Virgin of Montserrat “La Moreneta”, Patron of Catalonia, is venerated by pilgrims.

At 1 PM, inside the church, the Choir of children of the Escolanía sing like angels. Attendance is recommended.

The view from the top of the mountain is spectacular.
